On September 29, 1986, members of Sacred Heart Parish gathered to form and establish the Church club presently known as the SACRED HEART PLAYERS (hereinafter referred to as SHP).

 
The SHP was established to promote and foster a social dimension to the Christian community.  The goal of this Club is to encourage men and women to use their God given talents in order that they and their community may grow socially and personally in the understanding of themselves and the people with whom they work.  We hope and pray that the Spirit of God's love, joy, goodwill and charity will always be present in all the endeavors of the SHP and that all members will embrace these ideals.

The Organization:The SHP will consist of an Executive Board and the General Membership.  

 
The Executive Board:
The following are members of the SHP Executive Board with the purpose of continuing the ideals and goals stated above in accordance with the bylaws, guidelines and suggestions contained herein:

Chairman: Pastor of Sacred Heart Church

Moderator: Appointed by the Board

President: Elected by the Members of SHP

Vice President: Elected by the Members of SHPTreasurer: Elected by the Members of SHP

Secretary: Elected by the Members of SHP

Member at Large: Elected by the Members of SHP

Member at Large: Elected by the Members of  SHP

Immediate Past President: Only if not holding an Executive Board Position


General Membership:

General Membership is open to members of Sacred Heart Parish, Suffern, New York, as determined by parish boundaries and/or parish affiliation.  Parish affiliation may exist from prior family parish membership or affiliation must be approved by the Chairman.  Parish membership or affiliation is not required for the production staff, crew or orchestra.  Exceptions to these rules must be approved by the Executive Board. 

All cast and crew of any production of the SHP must at the same time be a member in good standing.  A member in good standing requires:

 1.  Full payment of $20 annual dues within one month of the start of rehearsal. 

 2.  Regular attendance at meetings and required rehearsals.  Cast members are expected to miss no more than three rehearsals and must be present for all dress and other special rehearsals.  If this rule is not complied with, the member will be subject to replacement.

 3.   Eighteen years of age or older, or at the discretion of the Executive Board and show selection.  Children members under the age 18 will not be responsible for membership dues.

 4.   Return of script and chorus books at the required time.  The cost of lost script or chorus books will be charged to the member.

 5.  A positive contribution and commitment to the goals and ideals of SHP.

Any Board member, Officer or general member who does not fulfill the requirements of a member in good standing will be asked to resign from SHP.


Play Selection:

 The Selection Committee will consist of the Moderator, Director, Music Director and Stage Manager of the SHP.  This committee will make their selection in timely manner so as to allow for scheduling and other production activities.  At any time during the year, a member in good standing may suggest a show for consideration, but the selection is the sole discretion of the Selection committee.  Only the Chairman can veto a selection.

Cast Selection:


The cast of a production shall be selected by the Casting Committee.  The Casting Committee shall include the Moderator, Director, Music Director, Assistant Director(s) and Stage Manager. Any of these members may audition for the production.  A member of the Casting Committee may audition for a part, but not be part of the selection process for that specific part.  To audition, a person must meet the membership requirements as listed above.
